AAEDA for Diabetes
Ann Arbor Endocrinology & Diabetes Associates (AAEDA) invites our patients to update their education and understanding of diabetes via full service or ala carte offerings.  AAEDA provides on line and in office diabetes education, and encourages patients to work with us in developing a self-care plan that meets your individual needs.

In conjunction with St. Joseph Mercy Health Center, AAEDA can provide patients with in-depth diabetes education. AAEDA physicians, nutritionists and certified diabetes education nurses can help you learn how to take care of your diabetes and reduce your risk of developing complications. AAEDA and SJMH are approved by the American Diabetes Association and the Michigan Department of Community Health, organizations committed to making sure that our program meets the highest standards.

Patients newly diagnosed with Type I or II diabetes, pregnant patients, and pump users are all encouraged to review our on line patient education pages, and work directly with AAEDA staff to customize a plan.  Taking care of yourself is an important key to staying healthy when you have diabetes and AAEDA offers planning in carbohydrate counting, feet checking daily, pump setting enhancements, and much more.

AAEDA adds world renowned physician Dr. Michael Kleerekoper, MD, MACE
Ann Arbor Ann Arbor Endocrinology & Diabetes Associates (AAEDA) is proud to welcome Dr. Michael Kleerekoper, MD, MACE to the practice. Dr. Kleerekoper has been awarded numerousl grants from the NIH, and has published his research widely in the top journals in endocrinology. His publications of original material, reviews and editorials number over 150 and he has edited or co-edited 5 textbooks. He serves on the editorial boards of JCEM, Calcified Tissue International, Osteoporosis International, and the Journal of Clinical Densitometry and has prior editorial service on the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, Bone, and Clinical Chemistry. In April of 2006 Dr. Kleerekoper was awarded the prestigious MACE accreditation.

Dr. Kleerekoper is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the Academy of Clinical Biochemists. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Osteoporosis Foundation and the Board of Directors of AACE, and will take on a new position at SJMH as Director of an all new fellowship program.

Sanfield Wins "Top Doc" Award
Dr. Jefferey Sanfield was recently named as a "Top Doc" by Detroit 's Hour magazine. In its fifth annual survey, Hour Detroit magazine asked 6,000 local medical professionals to whom they would refer a loved one to for medical care. Click for more information

Walk to Cure Diabetes
Dr. Jefferey Sanfield served as Corporate Recruitment Chairman for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's (JDRF) Walk To Cure Diabetes Ann Arbor Walk Site. As Director of Diabetes Program, and Chair for the Department of Internal Medicine at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, this was Dr. Sanfield's second opportunity to lead in fund raising activities for the foundation.
